Cologne/Duesseldorf & Western Germany – DMC
Despite the traditional rivalry between the two biggest cities at the river Rhine, Cologne and Duesseldorf have more in common than the locals would like to admit. Both cities are traditional meeting places for trade and communication, they are both littered with cultural and architectural highlights and each of them developed a unique local identity which finds its expression in the famous Carnival celebrations.
Places of communication - with history and futureEquipped with first-class infrastructure, a diversified choice of accommodation and a colourful gastronomical scene Cologne and Duesseldorf offer the ideal setting for events of all kinds. Along with countless small and large congresses more than 40 international trade fairs take place in Duesseldorf annually. The “KoelnMesse” is home to some of the leading trade fairs in the world.
Art, fashion, architecture and plenty of charm
Both cities are blessed with an abundance of tourist attractions. Cologne lures visitors from all over the world with its world-famous cathedral, the numerous top-class museums and the lively city center. Duesseldorf meanwhile is known as Germany’s leading fashion and shopping metropolis and is considered an important center for modern and contemporary art. Recently the city has made a name for itself in the world of architecture. The list of architects who were involved in the creation of the Duesseldorf Media Harbor reads like a "Who is who" of the international architecture scene.
Bonn, Beethoven and picture book boat trips
„Why is it so beautiful at the river Rhine...?“ asks an old German song. The best way to find out is to go on a boat trip along the stream. The river banks are lined with castles, vineyards are nestled in the green hills and picturesque villages invite you to a traditional winetasting. For recreation as well as events and incentives the beautiful "Bergisches Land" and the mystical “Siebengebirge” are ideal destinations.
The former German capital Bonn is located just a few kilometres south of Cologne and offers plenty of cultural attractions (amongst many others Beethoven’s birth place). With the former governmental quarter and all its facilities Bonn is also an ideal place for congresses.
