Hanover, regional capitol of Lower Saxony, is one of Germany’s leading trade fair and congress cities. Having been the host city for EXPO 2000 it has recently gained significantly in importance and prestige. The city is home to CeBIT, the world’s largest trade fair for computer technology and telecommunication.

Hanover and its surroundings have been shaped over the centuries by important royal dynasties and there are plenty of traces and reminders of these grand periods. The Leine and Weserbergland are dotted with magnificent castles.
Other highlights in the region include the city of Hamelin (famous for the folk tale of “The Pied Piper of Hamelin”) and the historical and lively Braunschweig.
